Teazel’s Story & Beagle Rescue Fundraiser

A cozy, heartfelt project supporting beagles across Canada

How Teazel Was Saved

Teazel’s story begins long before she ever curled up in our cottage. She was destined for a laboratory.

Her mother was part of an illegal beagle‑breeding operation, the kind that supplies puppies for testing. When the farm was shut down, rescue teams rushed in. K9 Safe Space arrived just hours before the litter was born, saving her mother from a life of confinement and preventing the puppies from being taken into the system.

Because of that rescue, Teazel and her siblings were born into safety instead of a laboratory.

This fundraiser honours that moment, the one that changed her entire life.

Poky Puppy Fundraiser

Every planner or journal that features The Poky Little Puppy helps save real beagles just like Teazel. From each sale, $5 is donated to beagle rescue efforts across Canada, supporting the small volunteer groups who step in when no one else will.

This season’s three featured Poky Puppy titles can be found here:

A Name Rooted in Home

Teazel is a gentle soul, thoughtful, curious, and quietly brave. She watches the world with soft beagle eyes, tilting her head at every new sound as if it’s telling her a secret.

She loves slow mornings, warm blankets, and the simple rhythms of cottage life. Never demanding, always nearby, she brings a calm sweetness to every room she’s in.

We named her Teazel after the wildflower that grows all through the Lake District in England, the place we’re from. It’s a humble little plant: soft, spiky, resilient, and quietly beautiful. Just like her.

Teazel is the quiet muse behind our cozy letters and storybook planners, the little heartbeat of Cottage Grandma and Postal Greeting.

The Osmond Puppies

When the puppies arrived, the rescue volunteers gave them cheerful names to mark their fresh start. The litter was nicknamed “The Osmonds, a playful nod to the famous family, because they were a tight little group, all sticking together, all singing their own tiny puppy songs.

It was a way of giving them identity, joy, and dignity after such a dark beginning.
